Transformers: Rise of the Dark Spark
Gameplay
in Rise of the Dark Spark is virtually identical to Fall of Cybertron, albeit with a few minor differences. For starters, due to the lack of multiplayer, the leveling system now is merged between campaign and Escalation, with experience earned in either mode pooling into the player’s overall level. Challenges work the same way, as they carry over between game types.
There is also a loadout system involved into the game’s campaign and Escalation. This system allows for a primary weapon, a heavy weapon, an ability, and some expendable T.E.C.H. The system for unlocking said items isn’t determined by the player’s personal level anymore either. Instead, it’s determined by Gear Boxes, which the player can earn by completing challenges, achievements and by nabbing collectibles in campaign.
A change in the leveling system from Fall to Rise, is the Prime Mode system. Instead of one Prime Mode, which gives the player a special animated symbol, showing their ascent into Primehood, there are five tiered Prime levels. Upon activation, the player’s insignia (located next to their username/gamertag) will change in coloration. This will culminate with a bright cyan pulsating symbol after Prime Mode fifth tier is activated. Upon activating a new tier of Prime Mode, the player’s weapons, abilities, and challenges will by wiped clean, much like Fall of Cybertron. Characters, T.E.C.H, and campaign progress will remain. Like Fall of Cybertron, grenades are entirely eliminated from the game now, barring their use by enemies in campaign and Escalation.
